FAQ

10. What is the climate like in South Africa?

South Africa, has 2 seasons, Summer and Winter. The summer period is from around November till May and winter is from around June to September. The months April and May could be spring and the months September and October could be autumn.

On average you are looking at around 25°C -30°C in summer and 17°C -23°C in winter. We are mostly staying along the South Coast where the climate is mild, however the Drakensberg Mountains, Lesotho and our project in Barrydale can be very cold in winter especially at night. So it is advisable to bring a warm jacket, hat socks and scarf if you are volunteering in the winter months.
